Responsible for receiving, processing, and distributing clinical laboratory specimens. This role does not require direct patient care. The assistant will receive, label, and distribute clinical laboratory specimens including blood, urine, and tissue samples. They will process specimens by verifying patient information, accessioning samples into the laboratory information system, and preparing samples for testing. The role also involves monitoring and maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment, and following established procedures and protocols for specimen handling, storage, and disposal. Maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the laboratory area, adhering to safety and quality standards, and collaborating with laboratory staff and healthcare providers are also key functions. Other related duties may be assigned by laboratory management.
