About The Position

Responsible for receiving, processing, and distributing clinical laboratory specimens. This role involves verifying patient information, accessioning samples into the laboratory information system, and preparing samples for testing. The assistant will also monitor and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment, and ensure cleanliness and orderliness of the laboratory area. Adherence to safety and quality standards, including the use of personal protective equipment and proper disposal of hazardous materials, is crucial. Collaboration with laboratory staff and healthcare providers is expected to ensure timely and accurate specimen processing.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Experience in a laboratory or healthcare setting 1-2 years preferred
  • Knowledge of basic laboratory equipment and terminology.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and protocols with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Basic computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.

  • Collaborate with laboratory staff and healthcare providers to ensure timely and accurate specimen processing.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by laboratory management.
