About The Position
Johns Hopkins Intrastaff, the internal staffing agency for the Johns Hopkins Health System and partner hospitals, is hiring a temporary full-time Pathology Assistant for Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. The role provides pathology services under the general direction and supervision of a pathologist, including examination and dissection of surgical pathology specimens and preparation of tissue for histology. The position is on-site and has a Monday–Friday schedule from 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM. The stated pay rate is $65.00–$67.00 per hour, based on experience. Responsibilities
- Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical pathology specimens, including complex surgical resections.
- Describe specimens and select and section tissue for histological preparation according to department protocol.
- Obtain specimens from operating rooms and perform appropriate examinations, including frozen sectioning and reported gross examination.
- Verify patient information on specimens and requisitions consistently.
- Perform specimen photography and radiography as needed.
- Collect and distribute tissue to the tumor bank, researchers, and investigators as needed.
