About The Position

At NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center, our Surgical Pathology Laboratory is one of the busiest in New York. Within our state-of-the-art lab, we maintain a high level of clinical interaction and enable expedited specimen processing. In turn, we deliver life-saving results to a growing volume of patients faster than most hospitals in the area. In our state-of the-art gross room you will dissect and examine all types of surgical specimens from small biopsies including dermatology specimens to large complex specimens. Pathologists’ Assistants assist in cutting and staining frozen sections and Bio Banking. Assess specimen volume and complexity, and triage specimens among cutting room personnel, technicians and residents. Identify and resolve all workflow and quality control issues related to gross and accession room activities by utilizing Advance Bar & Tracking Systems (AB&T) as well as cutting edge technology such as MModal, our voice recognition system, Faxitron, Gamma probe for radioactive seed isolation and Spot Imaging gross imaging system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • ASCP Certification
  • NYS Pathologists’ Assistant licensure from New York State Education Department
  • Must obtain the License within 6 months of hire
