About The Position
Ashurst Perkins Coie is seeking technical advisors in its Austin, New York, San Diego, and Seattle offices to join its growing Patent Prosecution practice. This program allows individuals with technical backgrounds to transition into the legal field. Technical advisors will work with attorneys and legal personnel to draft and prosecute patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The firm offers professional development, career training, and a personalized mentoring program. Many technical advisors pursue law school and have the option to continue employment while studying.
Requirements
- Degree in electrical engineering, computer science, physics, mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, and/or similar degrees
- Strong academic credentials
- Excellent references
- Interest in becoming a patent agent
- Available to work full-time beginning in June of 2027
Responsibilities
- Work side-by-side with attorneys and other legal personnel to draft and prosecute patent applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
