About The Position

SourcePro Search has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Patent and IDS Paralegal in the Boston area (currently remote). The Patent and IDS Paralegal will be responsible for all aspects of the preparing and filing Information Disclosure Statements for the Firm’s clients. The Patent and IDS Paralegal will manage the review of patent families; prepare formal documents, including the IDS letter, IDS citation forms, and submission of foreign and non-patent literature references; submit the documents for attorney review; and file the documents with the USPTO. Once filed, the Patent and IDS Paralegal will work alongside attorneys, foreign associates, and the Docketing Department to track, clear, and report on deadlines, including responding to client, attorney, foreign associates, and Docketing inquiries as to status. This position will also be tasked with interesting and diverse U.S. and foreign patent prosecution and portfolio management duties as time allows. Successful candidates will have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret common reports and legal documents and the ability to effectively present information in both written and verbal form to all levels of individuals in the Firm, clients, foreign associates, and USPTO personnel and foreign counterparts. This role also includes management and execution of special billable projects as assigned. Candidates must exhibit excellent time management skills, ability to prioritize workload and thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality work product.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years patent experience is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of USPTO rules and procedures related to the filing of IDS’ is required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common reports and legal documents.
  • Ability to effectively present information in both written and verbal form to all levels of individuals in the Firm, clients, foreign associates, and USPTO personnel and foreign counterparts.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality work product.
  • A college degree or paralegal certificate is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CPI and/or Foundation IP is highly preferred.
