PAT Senior Data Scientist

Sanofi•Waltham, MA
•$100,500 - $145,167

About The Position

As Senior Data Scientist – Process Analytical Technology (PAT) within the Process Modeling – Vaccines R&D Data & Computational Science team, this role turns real-time process and sensor data into insights that support precise, predictable, scalable vaccine manufacturing. The position builds machine learning and chemometric models that provide process development, manufacturing, and analytical teams with real-time visibility into vaccine production across mRNA, recombinant protein, and viral vector platforms. It works at the intersection of data science and bioprocessing to help ensure vaccine batches meet quality requirements. The role develops predictive models, soft sensors, and monitoring tools using process, analytical, spectroscopic, and sensor data. It collaborates across scientific, manufacturing, automation, and digital functions and supports process characterization, scale-up, technology transfer, validation, and ongoing process verification. The position also helps shape real-time process monitoring strategy and best practices across vaccine platforms.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Analytical Chemistry, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related scientific field.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry or academia; interns and co-ops will be considered.
  • Fluent English.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience developing and applying real-time process monitoring, chemometric, machine learning, or data science solutions in biopharmaceutical, biotechnology, or vaccine development and manufacturing settings.
