About The Position

This position is part-time, 24 hours/week, 3 8-hour shifts. There are never any evenings, weekend, or call! The Registered Nurse demonstrates quality patient service during interactions with patients, coworkers, and vendors. Exhibits a positive attitude and is flexible in accepting work assignments and priorities. Meets attendance and tardiness expectations. Is dependable; follows policies and procedures. Maintains professionalism in interactions with patients and coworkers.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required
• Current RN License, Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required
• Must have at a minimum previous nursing experience in at least one of the following settings: ambulatory surgical center (ASC), PACU, ICU, Medical Surgical or Telemetry floors
• Must be able to provide proof of their identity and their right to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing preferred
• Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred

Responsibilities

• Maintain a computer database for tracking surgical patients.
• Receive appropriate communication from surgery schedulers to schedule each patient for surgery.
• Obtain and review all pre-admission testing for the surgical patient.
• Conduct a phone assessment of each surgical patient to obtain medical and medication history.
• Communicate with primary care physicians, cardiologists, oncologists, etc. to obtain necessary information for appropriate medical evaluation preoperatively.
• Communicate directly with the anesthesia staff and surgeons to ensure all questions regarding pre-operative patients are answered prior to surgery to ensure a smooth schedule.
• Evaluate patients for allergies and set up allergy testing when appropriate.
• Other duties as assigned.
