About The Position

This position is part-time, 24 hours/week, 3 8-hour shifts. There are never any evenings, weekend, or call! The PAT Registered Nurse demonstrates quality patient service during interactions with patients, coworkers, and vendors. They exhibit a positive attitude and are flexible in accepting work assignments and priorities, meet attendance and tardiness expectations, are dependable and follow policies and procedures, and maintain professionalism in interactions with patients and coworkers.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required
• Current RN License, Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required
• Must have at a minimum previous nursing experience in at least one of the following settings: ambulatory surgical center (ASC), PACU, ICU, Medical Surgical or Telemetry floors
• Must be able to provide proof of their identity and their right to work in the United States
• Walk, stand and sit for prolonged periods of time
• Occasionally be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
• Occasionally be able to push up to an excess of 200 pounds
• Occasionally be able to pull/ lift patients with the assistance of other personnel and or assistive devices, up to an excess of 400-500 pounds
• Occasionally be able to bend, stoop, kneel and climb

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing preferred
• Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred

Responsibilities

• Maintain a computer database for tracking surgical patients.
• Receive appropriate communication from surgery schedulers to schedule each patient for surgery.
• Obtain and review all pre-admission testing for the surgical patient.
• Conduct a phone assessment of each surgical patient to obtain medical and medication history.
• Communicate with primary care physicians, cardiologists, oncologists, etc. to obtain necessary information for appropriate medical evaluation preoperatively.
• Communicate directly with the anesthesia staff and surgeons to ensure all questions regarding pre-operative patients are answered prior to surgery to ensure a smooth schedule.
• Evaluate patients for allergies and set up allergy testing when appropriate.
• Other duties as assigned.
