About The Position

The PAT Coordinator (Parents as Teachers) position strengthens families by identifying, supporting, and/or providing services to expectant parents, parents with young children, and staff who deliver services. This role leads and coordinates activities provided by the PAT program and offers information, services, and support to families enrolled in the program and Parent Educators. This position is funded by The Department of Early Childhood Education, and its establishment and continuance are dependent upon the availability of funding from this and/or other resources.

  • Ability to function in a hectic work environment with occasional periods of high stress.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license for at least 3 years, liability automobile insurance and be insurable through the agency’s insurance carrier.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, social service field or other closely related field required.
  • Two years of closely related experience in early childhood education, social work or human services required.
  • Strong computer skills, including word processing, required.
  • Must be able to use hands, fingers and wrists, repetitively while using computer keyboard.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to stand, bend, sit on the floor, stoop, walk, talk, hear, use hands to grip, and reach with arms, and carry items weighing up to 20 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the coordination, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of Goodwill Parents as Teachers Program services and activities.
  • Provides supervision, direction, guidance, and feedback to Goodwill Parents as Teachers staff, ensuring quality service delivery to children and families in compliance with agency, state, and federal requirements and standards.
  • Monitors the day-to-day operation of the Parents as Teachers Program, ensuring that all children receive services as indicated by DECE and national PAT to maintain affiliate status.
  • Provides statistical, financial, and programmatic reports as scheduled in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Monitors services provided by contracted staff and reviews, prepares, and submits invoices for payment of services.
  • Leads Goodwill participation in DECE/UAB monitoring visits, technical assistance visits and calls, file reviews, and communicates results and recommendations to supervisor.
  • Monitors timely and accurate documentation of home visits and other parent contacts for maximum program accountability using program software ETO and GGC databases.
  • Organizes and prepares documentation required for PAT reporting services as needed by funders and/or AVP of Children and Family Services and VP of Mission Services.
  • Provides coaching and supportive feedback to all staff regularly regarding program performance and monitors staff caseloads.
  • Provides and maintains complete, updated, and accurate documentation on each child and family, ensuring program compliance with regulatory and funding partner agencies.
  • Ensures all program activities and assignments are entered accurately into the ETO database system within the specified timeframe requirements.
  • Assists with planning, coordinating, and attending parent group connections with content focused on parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, and/or family well-being.
  • Communicates regularly with supervisor and reports progress, problems, and works as a team to help find solutions to achieve positive program outcomes.
  • Communicates regularly with supervisor, First Teacher team members, Goodwill mission services staff, and community partners, ensuring that all enrolled families are aware of and have access to services according to Goodwill expectations and consistent with the PAT Model.
  • Maintains accountability of inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment essential to the operation of the program and follows proper procedures for new acquisitions and purchases.
  • Participates in planning, developing, and coordinating the yearly program calendar, which reflects a variety of enriching, educational, and extracurricular activities for children, families, and team members.
  • Maintains effective communications with First Teacher coordinator, parent educators, other Goodwill staff, parents, and community service providers through attendance and active participation in meetings and conferences, use of emails, newsletters, memos, etc.
  • Assists in identifying and securing opportunities for expansion of services through grant opportunities and/or collaborative partnerships.
  • Stays current on issues pertaining to early childhood development and education by participating in on-going training and professional development opportunities including seminars, conferences, in-house training, and through personal research.
  • Collaborates with educational, medical, and community resource partners to obtain optimal results of First Teacher services.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with team members, parents, community partners, and collaborating agencies through active listening, open and honest communication, encouragement, and shared decision-making.
  • Observes all safety procedures and personnel policies.
  • Regular attendance, as outlined in Goodwill’s policy, is required.
