About The Position

Restaurant Associates, a leading provider of dining and event catering, is seeking a full-time Pastry Sous Chef. This role involves assisting the Executive Chef in food preparation and cooking, coordinating kitchen staff, and taking charge of kitchen operations in the Executive Chef's absence. The position is eligible for an Employee Referral Bonus and offers a comprehensive benefits package for full-time associates.

Requirements

• Five years of previous pastry experience is required.

Nice To Haves

• Use of a medium weight cut gloves when handling or using knives, peelers, choppers, mandolins or cleaning a slicer.
• Use of oven mitts, fryer gloves or steamer gloves when handling hot pans from ovens, warmers or steamtables.
• Use of slip-resistant shoes and proper lifting techniques.

Responsibilities

• Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards.
• Ensures all deadlines are met based on production orders.
• Supervises hourly food service associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews, and recommending disciplinary action.
• Stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state, and federal food safety and sanitation procedures.
• Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control, and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures.
• Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies, and utensils.
• Cleans workstation thoroughly before leaving area.
• Keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service.
• Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers.
• Keeps up with peak production and service hours.
• Monitors inventory and deliveries of product and supplies.
• Tracks product production, consumption, and waste.
• Informs supervisor when supplies or product are low.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
