About The Position

The Cake Decorator demonstrates a love for creativity, cakes, and passion for people while creating an excellent customer experience by maintaining a friendly, safe, and clean environment. Promotes and delivers a shopping experience focused on providing customers with efficient service through hands-on knowledge of all Bakery products. The Cake Decorator assists in the bakery department by preparing fresh baked goods daily for our customers by following recipes, labeling, and storing baked goods. The role is responsible for preparing and assembling quality food products in a fast-paced environment. The Cake Decorator is expected to be a role model for the company by delivering excellent customer service while maintaining company core values.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or currently enrolled
  • Valid Food Handlers Card
  • Effective interpersonal communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Takes initiative, friendly, approachable, and outgoing demeanor/team player
  • Sound judgment/decision-making skills

Nice To Haves

  • Customer Service, Cake decorating, and retail experience desirable

Responsibilities

  • Greet and interact with customers to address questions or concerns in a friendly, service- oriented manner
  • Assist Cake team with preparing desserts and pastries as needed
  • Take cake orders, ensure the department has fresh fruits and products, and maintain a fully stocked display case
  • Support team with baking various breads, cookies, and desserts, including pan dulce
  • Decorate cakes and pastries for customers
  • Use artistic skills to create beautiful, decorated cakes and pastries and mix colors for icing
  • Effectively communicate with management and baking team in order to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and or other employees
  • Conduct inventory on a regular basis to ensure proper levels
  • Maintains standards for quality, cleanliness, organization, customer service, safety, loss prevention, sanitation, department conditions, and food safety
  • Stock, fill, face, and ensure pricing accuracy while examining the rotation of all bakery products and discarding outdated or spoiled items
  • Work with various professional Bakery equipment, including heat sources, mixers, and blenders
  • Takes food orders in person and by telephone
  • All other duties as assigned

  • Improves speed and efficiency of service provided
