About The Position

At Aqua Aston Hospitality (AAH), we make vacation dreams come true for travelers around the world in a supportive, friendly, and beautiful work environment. As a Pastry Cook, you will be responsible for baked goods for outlets. Help with banquet productions and weekly brunches. Keep up pars. Have all production ready in a timely manner with regards to quality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have at least three (3) years’ experience in bakery production.
  • General understanding and knowledge of safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of how to produce cakes, tarts, mousses, batters, doughs, custards, frostings, and ice creams.
  • Must have basic cake decorating skills.
  • Must have basic math skills to produce correct sized batches.
  • Must have flexible schedule and be able to work all weekends and all holidays.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in restaurants and catering.
  • Hard work and efficient with time.
  • An ability to handle multiple prep or cooking tasks simultaneously in the most efficient manner.
  • Efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Strong command of the English language (written and oral) to the understanding of customers, guests, and co-workers.
  • Basic understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills.
  • Stand for long periods of time / 8 hours.
  • Walk extended distances / up to 8 hours.
  • Lift/carry 5-25 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Culinary education is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interview, select, and train employees.
  • Set and adjust their rates of pay and hours of work.
  • Direct the work of employees.
  • Appraise employees’ productivity and efficiency for the purpose of recommending promotions or other changes in status.
  • Handle employee complaints.
  • Discipline employees.
  • Plan the work.

  • Apportion the work among the employees.
  • Determine the type of materials, supplies, machinery, equipment, or tools to be used or merchandise to be bought, stocked, and sold.
  • Control the flow and distribution of materials or merchandise and supplies.
  • Provide for the safety and security of the employees or the property.
  • Plan and control the budget.
  • Monitor or implement legal compliance measures.
  • Customarily and regularly direct the work of at least two or more full-time employees or their equivalent (1 full-time employee at 40 and 2 half-time employees at 20 hours each, are equivalent to two full-time employees).
  • Authority to hire or fire other employees, or make suggestions and recommendations as to the hiring, firing, advancement, promotion, or any other change of status of other employees.
