About The Position

Big Canyon Country Club is now accepting Applications for: Pastry Cooks Position Purpose Contribute to an exceptional pastry program by preparing and executing station recipes with care, consistency, and creativity. Maintain an organized, clean work area and support high standards for food quality, freshness, safety, and sanitation. Essential Functions: Prepare and plate desserts and produce a variety of pastry items, including doughs, batters, cakes, mousses, cookies, breads, plated desserts, and ice creams. Follow established recipes and presentation standards to deliver consistent, high-quality results. Workplace Expectations Reliable attendance helps the pastry team work smoothly and provide an excellent guest experience. Associates are expected to maintain regular attendance and communicate promptly with their manager when an unexpected absence or delay occurs. Because restaurant operations vary with business needs, Associates may work a range of schedules. Participation in scheduled training sessions and meetings is an important part of professional development and team success. Associates are expected to follow restaurant policies, procedures, and safety practices. When concerns arise, they will be addressed fairly and consistently in accordance with restaurant policy, which may include corrective action up to and including termination of employment. Attendance and Scheduling Team members are expected to arrive prepared and on time for each scheduled shift. Consistent, dependable attendance supports coworkers and contributes to efficient service. Attendance concerns will be addressed in accordance with restaurant policy. Managers prepare schedules based on operational needs. Requests for time off are welcome and will be considered on a case-by-case basis, although approval cannot be guaranteed. Schedule changes should be discussed with and approved by a manager in advance. The Culinary Team at Big Canyon Country Club is proud to work hard and prepare foods for our members and guests. The Pastry Cook will be responsible for dessert planting and production of pastry items including doughs, batters, sauces and finished desserts. This position reports to the Pastry Chef and is a Full-Time status.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the primary language or languages used in the workplace.
  • Working knowledge of food products, recipes, and preparation techniques.
  • Commitment to quality, teamwork, organization, and food safety.
  • Ability to work comfortably in varied kitchen temperatures, including heated areas up to approximately 110°F and freezers down to approximately -10°F, for periods that may last an hour or more.
  • Ability to sit at a desk for up to five hours during a workday when required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move continuously for several hours.
  • Ability to safely handle kitchen equipment, knives, pots, and pans and to grasp, lift, and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment such as slicers, blenders, immersion blenders, pasta machines, and related machinery.
  • Ability to work effectively in a kitchen environment with elevated noise levels.
  • Ability to stay organized and productive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to push carts weighing up to 250 pounds on occasion.
  • Ability to bend, reach, and stretch while completing duties such as preparation and cleaning.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the role, including writing, grasping, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motion, bending, climbing, listening, speaking, and using visual acuity.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate necessary kitchen and office equipment, including computers, printers, telephones, and photocopiers.
  • Maintain any government-required licenses and certificates applicable to the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Culinary school education is preferred.
  • Cook certification or relevant pastry and culinary experience is preferred.
