About The Position

The pastry cook measures and mixes ingredients such as flour, flavorings, and fruit to create pastries. Pastry cooks cut and decorate pastries and tortes with icing designs using various tools. They continuously work to create new designs and recipes. Pastry cooks are held to a very high standard to ensure the maintenance of high quality products. Employee will be responsible for cleaning/sanitizing the shop their work stations, and equipment.

Requirements

  • Previous Culinary experience
  • A solid display of safe handling knife skills.
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Ability to remain balanced and work under emergency situations and pressure.
  • Ability to work well in a group.
  • Ability to stand in hot places all day long.
  • Must be able to deliver high quality work.
  • Ability to work swiftly and efficiently.
  • Understanding orders clearly and basic culinary skills.
  • Good sense of taste and smell.
  • Ability to perform any function around the bakeshop.
  • Knowledge about the different baking equipment and ingredients.

Nice To Haves

  • Serve Safe certification is preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Related experience is preferred

  • Continuously works to create new designs and recipes.
  • Ensures the maintenance of high quality products.
  • Responsible for cleaning/sanitizing the shop, work stations, and equipment.
  • Understands orders clearly and utilizes basic culinary skills.
  • Works swiftly and efficiently.
  • Performs any function around the bakeshop.
  • Delivers high quality work.
  • Remains balanced and works under emergency situations and pressure.
  • Works well in a group.
  • Stands in hot places all day long.
  • Attends departmental meetings.
  • Follows AHC handbook policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Actively works, always looking for ways to assist guests and going above and beyond to provide guest service.
  • Ensures the quality and level of service that the General Manager, Guest Care Manager, Manager on Duty and Guests expect is excellent and follows company standards and policies.
  • Uses other AHC hotels and staff as resources.
  • Completes all daily responsibilities/cleaning task lists.
  • Follows and fulfills duties given by senior chefs.
  • Keeps stations clean and well prepped to execute required tasks.
  • Keeps the bakeshop clean and sanitized.
  • Fulfills duties on time so as not to disrupt guest experience.
  • Uses ingredients in the right proportion and is aware of the exact procedure of preparation of pastries.
  • Reads and understands event orders and fills out destination forms.
  • Follows hotel green policies.
  • Ensures trash/recyclables are taken out.
  • Follows AHC guest service standards.
  • Works actively with department staff, while following all departmental rules.
  • Completes any other additional responsibilities that may be asked by General Manager, Guest Care Manager, Manager on Duty or Supervisor.
