Located in the heart of Vancouver at Fairmont Pacific Rim, you will be part of a passionate and creative culinary team dedicated to delivering exceptional experiences. Our pastry team plays a key role in bringing artistry and precision to life across all outlets, from restaurant service to banquets and in-room dining. You will work alongside a talented group of pastry chefs who are committed to innovation, quality, and collaboration. Requirements

  • Previous pastry experience and/or relevant trade schooling preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and passion for pastry arts
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to manage stress, remain composed, and perform effectively in fast-paced and high-pressure environments
  • Basic knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Food Safe certificate
  • Willingness to work all hours including, evenings, weekends, and holidays, to align with the demands of a 5-star hospitality environment
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily mise en place and production for all pastry outlets
  • Prepare, bake, and present high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods
  • Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and quality according to established standards
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry kitchen and workstations
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Support the team during service periods, including plating and finishing desserts
  • Assist with inventory, ordering, and minimizing waste where possible
  • Contribute ideas and creativity to menu development and seasonal offerings
  • Other duties assigned
