About The Position

The Pastry Cook, alongside the Pastry Chef, is responsible for all aspects of dessert production and presentation in support of restaurant operations. This role requires a minimum of 1-year experience in restaurant and pastry, and a high school diploma or equivalent. Culinary education is preferred. The position involves maintaining bakeshop cleanliness, managing supplies, monitoring products, setting up the pastry line, baking bread, producing dessert components, deep cleaning stations, proper storage of products, awareness of upcoming events, assisting with in-room dining and Dogwood dessert production, and setting individual goals. The role also requires effective communication, recipe development, mathematical skills for recipe conversion, and reasoning ability for decision-making. Physical demands include heavy lifting up to 50 lbs, standing for the duration of the shift, constant bending, stooping, reaching, and operating a company vehicle or golf cart safely. The work environment is a fully equipped bakeshop with up to six staff members, requiring teamwork and sharing of resources. Occasional work outdoors in various weather conditions may be required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-year experience in Restaurant and Pastry
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to compose effective recipes
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with guests, managers, and team members
  • Must be able to convert recipes into larger and smaller batches as needed
  • Must thoroughly understand weights, measures, and conversion of both
  • Must be able to exercise judgment and make decisions based on job knowledge and awareness of company goals
  • Requires heavy lifting of up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to be on feet for the duration of shift
  • Requires constant bending, stooping and reaching
  • Must be able to operate a company vehicle or golf cart safely

Responsibilities

  • Cleanliness and organization of bakeshop

  • Responsible for setting up pastry line for nightly dessert plating
  • Bake bread fresh throughout nightly service

  • Deep cleaning station following service
  • Proper wrapping and storage of all pastry products
  • Awareness of upcoming events
  • Assist with in-room dining and Dogwood dessert production
