About The Position

As a member of the healthcare team, the Chaplain makes available a continuum of services and programs designed to meet the religious and spiritual needs of residents, family members, and employees throughout the campus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) or equivalent in theology or religious studies or minimum 2 CPE units.
  • Understanding of and agreement to abide by the USCCB on Ethical Religious Directives (ERD).
  • Sensitivity to residents with varying chronic physical and mental dysfunctions.
  • Comfortable with residents of varying denominational backgrounds and beliefs.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with residents and those responsible for their care and quality of life.

Nice To Haves

  • Evidence of continuing education to update skills and knowledge in spirituality, pastoral counseling, gerontology, dementia and Alzheimer’s, and related areas of ministry, e.g. working toward units of Clinical Pastoral Education and/or chaplaincy certification.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, lead and coordinate varying spiritual and religious expressions such as leading prayer in staff meetings and organizing religious services for staff and residents.
  • Provide services and programs designed to meet the religious and spiritual needs of residents, family members, and employees.
