About The Position

The Pastor/Chaplain will be responsible for providing pastoral care to residents, their families, visitors, and staff to facilitate the healing process. This role involves completing spiritual assessments, visiting residents regularly, and responding to spiritual care needs. The Pastor/Chaplain will also plan, coordinate, and facilitate chapel services, staff devotions, and Bible studies. They will participate in the development and implementation of facility policies and procedures, maintain communication with management and staff, and attend staff/management meetings. Additionally, this role ensures spiritual needs are met on a 24-hour basis and actively participates in interdisciplinary team functions such as morning staff huddles, QAPI, and new employee orientation. Requirements

  • 4-year college degree
  • Ecclesiastical endorsement
  • At least two units of Clinical/Spiritual Education or equivalent
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel
  • At least 5 years of pastoral/spiritual care ministry experience
  • Rudimentary knowledge of, or experience in, the operation of long-term care in the state of Kentucky
  • Knowledge and respect of religious beliefs/practices of various faith groups
  • Ability to maintain a good rapport with clergy from various faith traditions
  • High level of confidentiality

Responsibilities

  • Provide pastoral care to residents, their families, visitors, and staff.
  • Complete a “Spiritual Assessment” of each new resident within 7 days of admission.
  • Visit residents a minimum of every 90 days and create a chaplain note in PCC.
  • Respond to special needs or requests of spiritual care for any new or current resident.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate chapel services, staff devotions, and Bible studies.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of facility policies and procedures when requested.
  • Maintain appropriate communication with site management and all staff members.
  • Attend staff/management meetings.
  • Assist or implement contact with the resident’s local church upon admission, change in health status, or death.
  • Ensure spiritual needs of the facility are met on a 24-hour, 7 day a week basis.
  • Actively participate in morning staff huddles, QAPI and orientation of new employees as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Recognize role as part of QAPI efforts, attend trainings, carry out QAPI roles and responsibilities, follow policies and procedures, share ideas for improvement, communicate outcomes and barriers, and support QAPI efforts.
