About The Position

A facilitator is needed to facilitate primary and secondary school programs in Term 3. This is a casual position based in Kwinana, WA. The Smith Family is a national children’s education charity that works with children and young people to overcome educational inequality caused by poverty – so they can thrive now and into their futures. The casual facilitator will facilitate whole class cohorts, so everyone gets the benefit of these extra-curriculum programs. Programs run intermittently, as required by the participating schools. It would suit someone with at least two available days per week. Scheduling can fit around your other part time/casual work/study commitments. Training and resources are supplied. The successful candidates may consider delivering one or more of the following programs, depending on their skills and experience and also the local participating schools’ needs: One hour a week for 6 weeks to assist Year 6 students transition to secondary school (Passport to Success) Increasing Years 4-6 and/or junior secondary students’ knowledge of the world of work, and how these relate to their own interests and strengths in 5-7 one-hour sessions (Future Seekers).

Requirements

  • Demonstrated qualifications and/or experience in the delivery of training programs or classroom-based learning.
  • A current driver's license.
  • Access to a reliable and insured vehicle.
  • Willingness to travel up to one hour each way to deliver program sessions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with people from various backgrounds.
  • Highly developed organisational and administrative skills with the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Commitment to The Smith Family’s Facilitator Quality Standards.
  • Must be prepared to undertake a National Police Check.
  • Must be prepared to undertake a Working with Children Check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in facilitating programs for disadvantaged children and their families.
  • Experience with the 'Passport to Success' program.
  • Experience with the 'Future Seekers' program.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate whole class cohorts in primary and secondary school programs.

  • Potentially deliver the 'Passport to Success' program for Year 6 students transitioning to secondary school.
  • Potentially deliver the 'Future Seekers' program to increase knowledge of the world of work for Years 4-6 and/or junior secondary students.
