About The Position

The PASRR Evaluator PRN position is responsible for completing Level II reports within a nine (9) working-day deadline, as established by state criteria. This role involves assessing individuals for mental illness and/or Developmental Disability/Intellectual Disability (DD/ID). The assessment process includes reviewing history and physical examinations, psychosocial evaluations, psychiatric evaluations, functional assessments of activities of daily living, comprehensive drug histories, self-care and skills profiles, assessments of inappropriate/maladaptive behaviors, and psychological testing. The evaluator will interview individuals, their representatives, family members, and knowledgeable healthcare professionals to gather supplemental information. A written summary of medical and social history, including an assessment of developmental strengths and weaknesses, will be provided. The position identifies general and specialized recommendations for treatment, including specific nursing services or mental illness and/or DD/ID services, and individualized, active treatment plans. For Licensed/Certified Psychologists, psychological assessments to identify the level of cognitive functioning will be provided. The role culminates in providing verbal and written determinations for admission to a nursing level of care based on the outcome of PASRR Evaluations. Staff are expected to exercise principle-centered leadership, focus on customer service responsiveness, and maintain a continuous quality improvement orientation, adhering to safety management and Joint Commission standards.

Requirements

  • Qualified Mental Health Professional, Mental Health Associate, or Qualified Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Professional, as defined by DMS or DBHDID.
  • Completion of DBHDID approved PASRR Evaluator Certification training within three (3) months of assignment to PASRR program.
  • One year of experience working with the DD/ID population is required.

Responsibilities

  • Completes Level II reports within nine (9) working-day deadline.

  • Assesses DD/ID, using history and physical examination, comprehensive drug history, self-care and skills profiles, assessments of inappropriate/maladaptive behaviors, and psychological testing.
  • Interviews individuals, their representatives and family, and knowledgeable healthcare professionals to obtain supplemental information.
  • Provides written summary of medical and social history, including assessment of developmental strengths and weaknesses.
  • Identifies general recommendations in writing for treatment, including specific nursing services or specific mental illness and/or DD/ID services.
  • Identifies specialized service recommendations for treatment, including individualized, active mental illness and/or DD/ID treatment.
  • For Licensed/Certified Psychologist, provides psychological assessments to identify level of cognitive functioning.
  • Provides verbal and written determinations for admission to nursing level of care based on outcome of PASRR Evaluations.
