The Party Chief Surveyor is responsible for the overall management of the survey crew, works under the direction of the Project Manager and Construction Manager. This role serves as a client liaison, is responsible for the safety of the crew and equipment, manages computations, and maintains safety standards. The position involves various types of construction stake out projects and topographic surveys. The Party Chief performs mathematical calculations for field checking data, takes accurate and clear notes in the field, and reads and understands engineering drawings. They must know basic sources of measurement errors and principles of monumentation, staking, and marking. This role is responsible for the quality and performance of the survey crew and the maintenance of all Company equipment. The Party Chief must be self-motivated and organized with good decision-making skills, accurately complete time and expenses, and submit data and notes daily. They are responsible for meeting with clients and public landowners as required in a professional manner and must be flexible and adaptable to change. Additionally, the Party Chief must identify safety hazards and take corrective action to eliminate or minimize them.
