About The Position

Sureway Construction is one of Alberta’s largest heavy construction contractors, involved in civil earthworks and grading, utilities and offsite, mine operation and aggregate extraction. We offer benefits, RRSP/TFSA Matching, Boot Allowance, and a state of the art shop to work in. This is a full-time, permanent position with a schedule of 10+ hours/day, Saturdays and Sundays as required, and overtime after 8 hours/day or 44 hours/week, as per operational requirements. The role is located at 9175 – 14 Street NW, Edmonton, AB, and is not directly accessible by public transportation. Essential qualities for this role include being hard-working, reliable, flexible with schedule, and the ability to work in physically demanding conditions. Pre-employment requirements include a drug and alcohol test, successful completion of company and site-specific orientation, and a Fitness to Work Assessment.

Nice To Haves

Journeyperson and Apprentices will be considered for this position.
Individuals with parts experience (not apprentice or journeyperson) will also be considered for this position.
Prior CAT - SIS experience is considered a strong asset.
Prior Komatsu experience is beneficial.
Familiarity with Toolhound is considered an asset.
Familiarity with Hydraulic Hose Assembly is considered an asset.
GET/Undercarriage knowledge is an asset.
Prior experience working as a Journeyperson Mechanic or mechanical background is considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities

Ensure orders are filled in a timely manner, using electronic order systems.
Ensuring cost efficiency when filing orders.
Research, identify and communicate cost savings.
Assist with maintaining inventory levels in parts department.
Assist Field Technicians with part requests.
Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, subcontractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
