About The Position

The Parts Supervisor is responsible for managing parts inventory, ensuring appropriate service levels to shop operations, and maintaining an effective parts catalog system. This role involves developing vendor relationships, reviewing purchase orders, preparing invoices, and evaluating inventory records. The supervisor will also provide technical assistance to parts department employees, conduct meetings to discuss operational efficiency, and monitor inventory to minimize obsolescence. The position requires flexibility in working hours and job assignments, and employment is contingent upon passing pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, a favorable background check, and a physical examination. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ Years of proven parts management experience
  • Exceptional customer service and follow-up
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow technical manuals
  • This position requires flexibility in working hours and job assignments
  • Strong proficiency skills with various computer programs and applications
  • Must have excellent telephone communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
  • Automotive, medium/heavy duty truck and sanitation truck parts experience a plus
  • Prior management and/or supervisory experience preferred
  • Prior parts experience with heavy equipment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develops, communicates, enforces, and monitors effective Parts
  • Stocks inventory at appropriate levels while maintaining appropriate services to shop operations
  • Prepares and conducts physical inventories quarterly
  • Provides reports and computer-generated reports as necessary
  • Maintains an effective parts catalog system
  • Develop relationships with key vendors
  • Review purchase orders
  • Prepare invoices for AP department by coding invoices with correct account code number
  • Evaluate inventory records
  • Maintain records and preparing required reports relevant to the operations of all parts departments
  • Provide technical assistance to parts department employees
  • Conduct meetings with parts department employees to discuss activities and problems of mutual interest and to develop strategies for a more efficient operation
  • Monitor and adjust inventory to minimize obsolescence
  • Other duties as assigned by management
