About The Position

Assist customers by accepting parts orders and processing them in the most expedient, efficient manner. Perform all branch store Parts Department functions and operations, which may include: warehousing, stocking, shipping and receiving, will call, shop and field service parts orders and expediting, customer calls, walk in orders and expediting, parts return credits, and core acceptance inspections and credits. Maintain the parts inventory as required. Senior level position that is able to provide support in the absence of Lead/Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to assist customers and employees in a professional manner.
  • Ability to train new/less seasoned employees.
  • Must have Caterpillar reference sources knowledge and usage experience.
  • Must have sales techniques sufficient for recommending additional parts needed.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of all Empire’s product lines.
  • Must have knowledge of Caterpillar parts, customer operations, customer transportation methods, and Parts Department procedures and policies relating to Parts Sales Orders and Credit Memos.
  • Must have computer skills sufficient to use Empire’s computer systems and office software.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using DBS, SIS, Antares, and other computer programs in the performance of the job
  • Must have knowledge of Parts Exchange components, Caterpillar and Allied product lines and applications, and all parts related work areas and their functions.
  • Must have knowledge of hose building.
  • Ability to maintain consistent attendance.
  • Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with parts operations.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a parts sales environment.
  • Must have and maintain a valid motor vehicle driver’s license.
  • Forklift operators’ certification.
  • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.

Responsibilities

  • Acknowledges customers. Demonstrates superior customer relations and interdepartmental cooperation skills.
  • Writes Parts Sales Orders (PSO) and parts return credits.
  • Maintain knowledge and understands products sold by Empire.
  • Provide oral and/or written parts quotations to customers. Processes mail in and fax parts orders.
  • Fill orders from stock.
  • Fabricate hoses and battery cables.
  • Perform warehousing functions. Receive stock and freight shipments, replenish shelf stock, and package parts for shipment. Assist in maintaining inventory accuracy. Prepare manifests for materials being shipped according to carrier's and EMPIRE's procedures.
  • Work safely at all times. Adhere to all applicable safety policies. Comply with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure all parts and warehouse areas clean and neat at all times.
  • Write change and new locations for parts stock.
  • Operate parts delivery truck, forklift, and other material handling equipment following all safety practices and rules.
  • Process cores for core acceptance and issue credits.
  • Accept after-hours parts calls.
  • Perform will call duties and functions. Understands and follows all procedures for handling will call parts and returns.
  • Process, handle, and record cash for cash sales transactions as required.
  • Handle cash reporting deposit/settlements.
  • Work within and promotes corporate values.
