About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Parts Manager to support maintenance and operations within a Material Recovery Facility (MRF). This role is responsible for managing inventory, procurement, vendor relationships, and parts operations for a fleet of diesel trucks, recycling equipment, and heavy equipment including excavators, front-end loaders, skid steers, and other yellow iron machinery. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, experience in heavy equipment or fleet parts management, and the ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment while supporting maintenance uptime and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in parts management, fleet maintenance, or heavy equipment industries preferred.
  • Experience supporting refuse, recycling, construction, or industrial equipment operations strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of diesel, hydraulic, electrical, and heavy equipment components.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and maintenance software.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced maintenance environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and inventory tracking systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) or waste/recycling environment.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment manufacturers such as Caterpillar, Volvo, Komatsu, John Deere, or similar equipment brands.
  • Experience managing critical spare parts inventory for production or plant equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily parts room operations for the MRF maintenance department.
  • Maintain inventory levels for refuse trucks, recycling plant equipment, and heavy equipment parts.
  • Source, order, receive, and track parts from approved vendors and suppliers.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure competitive pricing and timely deliveries.
  • Monitor inventory usage, cycle counts, and reorder points to minimize downtime and reduce excess inventory.
  • Support maintenance technicians by identifying and locating correct parts for repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, purchase orders, invoices, and work orders within the maintenance management system.
  • Coordinate warranty claims, returns, and core recoveries with vendors and manufacturers.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards and maintain a clean, organized parts room.
  • Work closely with maintenance leadership to forecast parts needs and support operational goals.
  • Assist with budgeting and cost control initiatives related to parts and inventory management.
  • Track and manage consumables, shop supplies, tools, and critical spare parts inventory.
