About The Position

The Parts Inspector/Finish Repair Tech performs a wide variety of tasks in a boat manufacturing facility. This role involves building and repairing fiberglass boat hulls, decks, and small parts using various tools and materials. Innovation is the heart of Brunswick. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 2-3 years of boat building experience preferred.
  • Fitting/Installing experience.
  • Working knowledge of hand tools.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and multi-task.
  • Ability to read and understand prints and production schedules.
  • Ability to work with suspended loads and heavy lifting.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to adapt to changing requirements in a positive and proactive way.
  • Maintain cleanliness, ensure safety compliance to include PPE adherence, safety policy adherence, and safe behaviors and conditions.
  • Must possess the desire and ambition to always work safely and report all hazards to their supervisor immediately.
  • Must understand basic terminology such as OSHA, DEP, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment where designated, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced proficiency with precision measuring tools and equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, and coordinate measuring machines.
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Strong ability to meticulously document inspection findings and maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

  • Building and repairing fiberglass boat hulls, decks, and small parts using hand tools and specialty tools like gel-coat spray equipment, grinders, buffers, and drills.
  • Inspecting parts and understanding fiberglass finishes or basic use of abrasives.
  • Following specific job instructions and providing verbal and/or written status of part completion.
  • Handling and applying solvents, paints, pastes, putty, and wax, along with proper disposal.
  • Recognizing and protecting precious boat components while performing finishing duties.
