Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in automotive or parts management is a plus.
  • Proven experience working as a Parts Counter Person or in a similar role within automotive or related industries.
  • Strong understanding of automotive parts and systems, with an ability to identify, locate, and explain their functions and compatibility.
  • Proficient in the use of inventory management software and other computer systems necessary for parts ordering and record keeping.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with a capability to engage positively with customers and colleagues.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking skills, capable of managing multiple client requests simultaneously.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items and stand for extended periods.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and independently when required.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and willingness to attend training to enhance product knowledge and customer service skills.
  • Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends, depending on departmental needs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist customers and technicians in identifying and selecting the correct parts for various vehicles, equipment, or machinery.
  • Utilize inventory management systems to check stock levels, order parts as necessary, and ensure timely fulfillment of all parts requests.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by answering questions, offering advice, and solving parts-related issues promptly.
  • Maintain an organized record of all transactions and communications to ensure accuracy and accountability in parts inventory.
  • Participate in stocktaking activities, assess inventory needs, and assist with ordering to maintain optimal stock levels.
  • Process returns and exchanges in accordance with company policies, ensuring customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
  • Stay informed of new parts and products, as well as updates in automotive industry standards that may affect parts management.
  • Coordinate with the sales and service departments to optimize parts availability and minimize disruptions to business operations.
  • Ensure the parts counter area and storage are clean, organized and compliant with safety regulations at all times.
  • Attend and participate in regular training sessions and meetings to improve professional skills and product knowledge.
