About The Position

This is a temporary assignment, expected to last approximately 60 to 90 days, for a Parts Clerk. The role involves managing parts inventory, processing requisitions, and ensuring accurate stock levels. The position requires general computer database knowledge, basic mechanical understanding, and the ability to operate a forklift. The ideal candidate will be self-directed, possess strong organizational and communication skills, and prioritize safety.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years parts stock room experience preferably in Transit but will accept automotive, trucking and or any parts experience related to the field of Fleet Maintenance.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • General computer database knowledge required such as but not limited to, RTA, Microsoft Office, Cummins Quick Serve, FEDEX Freight Manager Systems and ability to learn various vendor software systems
  • Basic mechanical knowledge required or the ability to learn the parts for the different vehicles required
  • Requires the person to be self-directed
  • Ability to operate a Forklift and pass the In-house Forklift Training Certification Program
  • Inventory skills are essential

Responsibilities

  • Receiving, counting, and inspecting parts materials to ensure accurate quantity and quality
  • Process requisitions for parts requested by Management or Mechanic Leader
  • Make daily/weekly inventory counts of parts room items to ensure proper identification and re-supply needs
  • Drive to deliver or pick up parts when required
  • Distributes requested parts to mechanics
  • Receives parts requisition order forms from mechanics and other maintenance personnel
  • Research parts number either from manufacturer's supply catalogue or on computer
  • Obtains parts from bins and posts parts to computerized work order and compares labor code on requisition to computer code
  • Performs audits of parts and materials
  • Orders parts and materials from various vendor networks
  • Physically places parts in the proper location after the items have been properly received
  • Annually and as needed, physically counts parts/supplies and gives information to Parts Supervisor
  • Assist Parts Manager with purchase orders
  • Assist with AP coding of invoices with correct code number
