About The Position

Easterseals DC MD VA is seeking a professional to join our team as Partnerships & Outreach Manager. You will be responsible for developing and executing outreach strategies to engage with key stakeholders, building relationships with potential partners, and managing projects related to outreach initiatives. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a passion for community engagement, and the ability to think strategically and creatively. The position requires a bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of work conducting outreach or service coordination in the DC, MD, VA region. The job requires work in the community, reliable transportation for regular local travel, and some flexibility in work hours. The Partnerships & Outreach Manager is a key member of the Homeless Veterans' Reintegration Program (HVRP) team. HVRP is an employment-focused grant program funded by the Department of Labor, Veterans' Employment and Training Service (DOL-VETS).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field like communication, social work, business, or human resources; Master’s degree preferred
  • 4+ years of outreach and service coordination specific to the DC and Baltimore region
  • Veteran status preferred
  • Experience working with the low-income, homeless, and/or veteran populations and knowledge of their unique needs
  • Work experience with diverse audiences from various backgrounds
  • Knowledge of the local resources for veterans experiencing homelessness. Existing relationships with these entities are a plus
  • Local Travel required: Willingness and capacity to travel locally 25-50 miles on 3-4 days out of the week to attend meetings or community events
  • Valid Driver’s license, reliable transportation, and auto insurance. (Mileage will be reimbursed.)
  • Flexibility in work hours, including an occasional event on a Saturday
  • Communication skills – must be an excellent communicator, both oral and written
  • Interpersonal skills & Networking ability – demonstrated success at quickly building rapport and the ability to interact confidently and professionally with stakeholders at all levels of an organization
  • Strategic and critical thinker – ability to create effective outreach strategies, evaluate effective partnerships, and use our limited time and resources wisely
  • Organization and Time Management – Self-starter who can plan ahead, stay organized, and use time efficiently to keep various ongoing tasks organized
  • Team Player – Demonstrates good collaboration and communication to be effective in a team setting and enable the team to achieve positive results for veterans
  • Passion for and commitment to the program mission
  • Computer savvy – Good typing speed. Proficient in MS Office Suite, especially Outlook and Word. Excellent internet research skills

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop opportunities to collaborate with community partners to promote the program’s services and mission and expand our reach across the area.
  • Serve as a spokesperson about HVRP and showcase the value of the program. Proactively seek outreach opportunities (events, presentations, workshops, etc.) for HVRP staff with the expectation to grow the number of referral sources and Veteran enrollment.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners and other key stakeholders. This includes American Job Centers (AJC) and State Workforce Agencies, shelters, service providers, VSOs, VA programs, the local Continuums of Care (CoC), and other partners/potential partners who serve similar populations.
  • Conduct research to identify potential partners and develop strategies to reach them.
  • Draft, distribute, and maintain a directory of resources that can provide wraparound services for veterans in the program, helping the team to stay up to date on what’s available and the procedures for accessing or referring clients to those services.
  • Serve as a liaison between the HVRP Veteran Employment Specialists and community partners to ensure seamless coordination of services.
  • Coordinate outreach activities and update event calendar. Respond to inquiries requesting Easterseals presence at events, determine the priority level and how much coverage is needed, and then coordinate with the Veteran Employment Specialists to attend.
  • Stay informed about the dominant and growing industries in our area and which large employers are hiring and who might be a fit for our population of veterans experiencing homelessness. Proactively engage those employers and develop a relationship to cultivate job opportunities.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of marketing materials and suggest changes or additions as needed.
  • Stay up to date with the principles, best practices, and latest trends in homeless/veteran services
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of outreach activities and the partnerships themselves.
  • Submit weekly reports, expense reports, and other administrative tasks on a timely basis.
  • Record and report on activities via an outreach log.
