About The Position

Kora is a global fiat and stablecoin payment infrastructure that provides settlement infrastructure, compliance engines, and connectivity for cross-border payments. The company's vision is to create a world void of digital financial barriers, delivering reliable, secure, and easy-to-use digital financial solutions. This role focuses on building and managing partnerships within the XAF and XOF corridors to enable Kora's scale.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in strategic partnerships, business development, or ecosystem building in fintech or financial services.
  • Proven track record of sourcing, negotiating, and closing institutional partnerships.
  • Experience in structuring complex agreements.
  • Strong network across XAF/XOF markets (banks, mobile money operators, aggregators, regulators).
  • Clear understanding of how payment ecosystems operate in Francophone Africa.
  • Solid understanding of payment infrastructure (settlement rails, correspondent banking).
  • Knowledge of AML/KYC requirements and partnership due diligence processes.
  • Familiarity with licensing regimes in the XAF/XOF markets and how partnerships enable market entry.
  • Experience working on partnerships requiring regulatory approvals or sandbox participation.
  • High ownership and ability to operate in ambiguous, zero-playbook environments.
  • Structured communicator, able to clearly report partnership status, risks, and blockers.
  • Commercially driven with a focus on measurable outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Fluency in French and English is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full portfolio of bank, aggregator, wallet, and institutional partnerships in the XAF/XOF region, focusing on quality over volume to materially enable Kora's corridor capability.
  • Map priority payment corridors, identify critical partner types, and close relationships to unlock them.
  • Identify, structure, and manage partnerships with licensed entities in markets where Kora is not yet licensed, in coordination with Legal and Compliance.
  • Personally identify, approach, and structure partnership agreements with Banks, aggregators, and wallet providers, understanding and negotiating complex agreements.
  • Build, manage, and convert a strong pipeline of high-value merchants, leading the end-to-end sales cycle.
  • Maintain regular contact with active partners, track partnership delivery, ensure performance, and proactively address lagging outcomes.
  • Act as the primary signal for francophone partners' needs from Kora's infrastructure, surfacing specific requirements, compliance standards, or technical specifications that block partnerships.
