About The Position

The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) role is an excellent entry-level opportunity to begin a career in healthcare. In this position, you will be working both in our day center and traveling to participant homes. PCAs assist participants with daily living activities and healthcare needs, gaining hands-on experience across a variety of care settings. Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills, show empathy and compassion, and work well with healthcare teams while following care plans. We provide a comprehensive PCA training class to help you build the knowledge and confidence needed to succeed in this rewarding field. Our next PCA class will be held on October 12th and 13th. You must attend this class.

Requirements

  • Must be willing and able to complete our PCA training program.
  • Must have reliable transportation and valid driver's license
  • CPR Certified or willing to obtain.
  • The ability to read, write, understand, and follow directions.
  • A heart for helping others and the physical ability to lift, stand, bend, transfer, stretch, walk, push, and pull as needed.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 35 pounds frequently is required
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with frail or elderly individuals, aiding with daily living activities, and offering compassionate care, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with personal care like bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
  • Help participants enjoy their meals and stay hydrated for good health.
  • Provide and maintain physical and emotional comfort for participants in the day center and their homes.
  • Support housekeeping tasks such as laundry, sweeping, and grocery shopping. Meet participants at appointments as needed.
  • Respond with kindness and compassion.
  • Report any changes in conditions to the leadership ASAP and provide accurate documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality while delivering top-notch care.
  • Participate in after-hour on-call rotations, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
