About The Position

The Part-Time Youth Specialist is responsible for maintaining the safety, security, and supervision of youth in the Juvenile Leadership Academy (JLA). This position provides direct supervision to youth in a secure residential setting by enforcing program rules, promoting positive behavior and accountability, supervising daily activities, responding to emergencies, documenting resident behavior, and serving as a positive role model while supporting the rehabilitation and personal development of youth. Male applicants only.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • One year of Residential Supervision experience (preferred)
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills; interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with the public and others
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Eligible to certified as a Juvenile Supervision Officer, which requires completion of CPR, First Aid, and Handle With Care Certification
  • Must be available to work various shifts, to include nights and weekends
  • Must be a Male applicant.
  • Criminal history must not reveal a felony conviction against the laws of this state, another state, or the United States within the past 10 years; a deferred adjudication for a felony against the laws of this state, another state, or the United States within the past 10 years or current felony probation or parole.
  • Criminal history must not reveal a jailable misdemeanor conviction against the laws of this state, another state or the United States within the past 5 years; a deferred adjudication for a jailable misdemeanor against the laws of this state, another state, or the United States within the past 5 years or current misdemeanor probation or parole.
  • Criminal history must not reveal registration as a sex offender under Chapter 62, Texas Code of Criminal Procedure.
