About The Position

This is a frontline Part Time Teller Float position responsible for accurately and efficiently processing and recording routine transactions for members and non-members. The role involves negotiating checks, accepting and disbursing cash, and processing various financial transactions such as share deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, VISA payments, money orders, gift cards, travel money cards, and amusement park tickets. This position is crucial for achieving CCFCU’s Member Journey Experience goals and requires the individual to float between all branches as necessary, including participation in Saturday rotation schedules.

Requirements

  • Computer literate including Microsoft Office, Word and Excel.
  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and generate grammatically correct written reports, letters, memorandums, etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and be able to establish working relationships and interact effectively with a wide range of individuals, members and vendors.
  • Deep understanding of how a credit union functions, and the value it brings to its member’s and community, including understanding of what a Cooperative is.
  • Accuracy in the handling of cash and recording daily transactions.
  • Maintain an overall knowledge of the resources and services of the credit union and be conversant in alternatives for withdrawing funds, making loans, etc., and refer members to other personnel as situations warrant.
  • Thorough knowledge of interest rates and dividends, how they are computed and disclosed, and is capable of discussing this with the member.
  • Maintain a cooperative attitude with other employees and help to maintain the friendliest atmosphere possible in the credit union office.
  • Strive to render the best possible service to all the membership.
  • Keep current with basic knowledge of all credit union programs and thoroughly cross-sell all credit union products at every available opportunity.
  • The ability to properly receive members, either by telephone or in person.
  • High school Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with cash handling / check negotiating in a financial services environment.
  • Bondable upon initial employment, and ability to maintain bondability throughout term of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Handle member account transactions including, but not limited to: deposits, withdrawals, loan transactions, funds transfers, sale of money orders, gift cards, travel money cards, and amusement park tickets, Series EE Bonds as well as debit cards.
  • Perform file maintenance (i.e. closing of an account).
  • Maintain cash boxes at predetermined dollar level.
  • Maintain constant recognition of the vulnerability of cash handling and check negotiations; periodically reviews security procedures and maintains high awareness of actions to take during and after criminal attack or other emergency situations.
  • Possess demonstrated knowledge of all cash handling and check cashing policies and procedures to ensure proper transaction execution.
  • Call unusual circumstances and exceptional cases to management’s attention to obtain approval for proper disposition.
  • Assist in keeping address changes up to date.
  • Responsible for processing required government reporting.
  • Has a thorough knowledge of products and services and educates members of their availability.
  • Be neat, punctual and professional in appearance and demeanor and adhere to safe work practices and procedures at all times.
  • Always represent the best interests of the Credit Union in words and actions.
  • Complete all required training.
  • Other duties as assigned.
