About The Position

The English for Professional Purposes Intercultural Center (EPPIC) in the Department of Applied Linguistics at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for part-time academic language specialist positions. EPPIC is an academic support and research center in Penn State’s highly-ranked Department of Applied Linguistics that provides advanced English language communication support services to multilingual students, scholars, faculty, and staff across Penn State’s global community. EPPIC conducts research in applied linguistics, language for specific purposes (LSP), analysis of spoken and written academic discourse across disciplines, and draws on Vygotskyan Sociocultural Theory in its approach to teaching.

Requirements

  • MA in TESL or a related field
  • Previous experience teaching both academic speaking and writing in English as an additional language to graduate students in a university setting

Responsibilities

  • Providing direct language support to multilingual students and scholars
  • Conducting needs analysis
  • Designing instructional materials
  • Collaborating with the EPPIC team on assigned projects
