About The Position
The School of Jazz & Contemporary Music at The New School is seeking highly qualified candidates to join its roster of Part-Time Teaching Staff. This position is primarily in-person and is based on campus to support effective in-person collaboration and engagement.
Requirements
- Demonstrated success as a performing artist, with significant professional accomplishments and accolades
- 2-3 years of teaching experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives, preferably in a College, University, and/or Conservatory
- Ability to work with diverse students and colleagues, fostering inclusive classroom environments
- Proven track record with achieving learning outcomes as defined by curriculum and course syllabi
Nice To Haves
- A Bachelor’s, advanced, or terminal degree in the field of specialty or equivalent experience (BM, MM, DMA, PH.D or equivalent)
Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated mentorship and instruction to students within the School of Jazz & Contemporary Music
- Serve as a substitute instructor within the School of Jazz & Contemporary Music
- Assess student learning outcomes and aid student success and individual artistic growth
- Submit grades in a timely manner
