About The Position
The College of Agricultural Sciences in the Department of Entomology is seeking applicants for a Part-Time Summer Research Assistant in the Deans Lab. The role involves assisting in the identification and digitization of firefly specimens (family Lampyridae), primarily focusing on transcribing text from labels (either from images or direct observation) and parsing this data into appropriate fields. Some labels will also require georeferencing, which involves estimating latitude and longitude for a given locality.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the identification and digitization of firefly specimens (family Lampyridae)
- Focus primarily on transcription of text from images of labels or from direct observation of labels and parsing of data into appropriate fields
- Georeference (i.e., estimate latitude and longitude for a locality) for some labels
