About The Position
The College of Agricultural Sciences is seeking applicants for part-time job of greenhouse research assistant. Job duties to include: Assist with planting, pruning, and harvesting of apple and peach trees. Perform regular maintenance tasks—including weed control and crop-load management—to support optimal tree health. Participate in fruit assessment activities and sample preparation in the lab. Learn and apply lab techniques for analyzing soil and fruit samples. Contribute to ongoing research projects related to sustainable orchard practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in managing tree fruit field research trials
- Demonstrated interest in sustainability and tree-fruit production.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to the Rock Springs orchard.
- Willingness to learn and work in a dynamic outdoor environment.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Flexible availability: some projects involve statewide travel and extended days (10–12 hours).
