Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate
  • Special Education endorsement in one or more of the following areas: Cognitive Impairment (CI), Learning Disabilities (LD), Emotional Impairment (EI), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Strong foundation in subject area content and Michigan Academic Standards

  • Exceptional communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Understanding of, or demonstrated experience with, PBIS and MTSS frameworks
  • Ability to manage complex and stressful situations with sound judgment, professionalism, and composure
  • High character, compassion for students and families, and a collaborative mindset

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate IEP meetings and complete required documentation in compliance with Michigan Special Education Rules and IDEA regulations
  • Utilize assessments and student data to inform and adjust instruction
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community partners
  • Support and improve student achievement outcomes
  • Contribute to a positive school culture with high expectations, collaboration, and strong community engagement
  • Integrate technology into instruction and student learning
  • Contribute to extracurricular programs and the broader school community
