Special Education Teacher
About The Position
The primary goal of the Special Education Teacher is to provide specialized instruction in an individualized program for students to empower them to become happy, confident, and productive members of their community. This role involves designing, supervising, and implementing students’ IEP plans, creating and coordinating student schedules with related services and general education, and collecting and analyzing student data to monitor progress. The Special Education Teacher will effectively work with a large team of professionals to coordinate services and participate in staff development training courses focused on working with students with Autism, implementing state-of-the-art strategies for this population.
Requirements
- Masters's degree in Special education, or a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 18 credits in special education and 6 credits in education theory.
- Must possess a Pennsylvania Special Education certificate; or a Pennsylvania Private Academic certification with ability to attain public certification within one year from date of hire will be considered.
Responsibilities
- Design, supervise and implement students’ IEP plans.
- Create and coordinate student schedules with related services and general education.
- Collect and analyze student data and monitor student progress.
- Effectively work with large team of professionals needs to coordinate services.
- Participate in several staff development training courses that focus on working with students with Autism.
- Implement state of the art strategies to work effectively with students with Autism.
