About The Position

Guadalupe Centers Charter Schools (GCCS) is seeking a Part-Time School Lunch Monitor to supervise students during breakfast and lunch periods. The goal is to ensure a safe, orderly, and respectful cafeteria environment while supporting compliance with DESE regulations, USDA National School Lunch Program (NSLP) requirements, and school safety expectations. This role reports to the Building Principal or designee.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, calmness, and sound judgment in high-stress situations.
  • Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and families.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving under-resourced and culturally diverse student populations.
  • Ability to follow school, district, and state policies and procedures.
  • Must complete DESE-required background checks, including fingerprinting.
  • Must comply with all Missouri school employment requirements.
  • Required to complete mandatory reporter training and any school-required safety or compliance training.
  • Must adhere to all GCCS policies, DESE regulations, and state and federal laws related to school operations and student safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a school cafeteria, food service, or office setting preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish required.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor student behavior during breakfast and lunch periods in accordance with school expectations and student discipline guidelines.
  • Supervise cafeteria operations to ensure a safe, orderly, and respectful environment for students and staff.
  • Ensure all students in line receive complete meals in compliance with USDA meal pattern requirements.
  • Maintain working knowledge of full vs. partial meals, reusable meal procedures, and meal accountability requirements.
  • Monitor meals served to both students and adults in alignment with school nutrition guidelines.
  • Observe and support food safety practices, including ensuring servers wear gloves and milk is properly chilled.
  • Assist with maintaining cafeteria cleanliness and organization throughout meal service.
  • Ensure daily food menus are posted clearly at cafeteria entry points.
  • Communicate behavioral or safety concerns promptly to the Building Principal or designated staff member.
  • Support positive student interactions and reinforce expectations using culturally responsive practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA and district policy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support school operations.
