About The Position

The Lunch Monitor will supervise students during breakfast and/or lunch periods under the direction of the building principal. This role involves ensuring an orderly environment in the cafeteria, lavatories, and school grounds, assisting with meal distribution, and managing trash and cleaning duties. The position requires modeling appropriate school behavior and providing clear directions to students.

• Ability to ensure proper disposal of food waste and recycling.
• Ability to clean and sanitize tables and floors.
• Ability to assist students with mealtime needs.
• Ability to provide quiet, firm, and positive directions.
• Understanding that physical restraint of students is not permitted.
• Ability to model appropriate school behaviors.
• Ability to visually supervise playground areas effectively.
• Willingness to perform other assigned tasks.
• Adherence to assigned work schedule.

Responsibilities

• Report to work promptly.
• Complete time sheets with school secretary on a daily basis.
• Provide supervision of children during lunch and/or breakfast periods.
• Ensure that trays are emptied properly into proper receptacles including recycling.
• Clean/sanitize tables between servings and at the conclusion of the breakfast and/or lunch periods.
• Spot clean the floor during and at the end of the breakfast and lunch periods.
• Minimize movement of students during lunch period by assisting them in obtaining straws, napkins, utensils, etc.
• Give directions to students in a quiet, firm and positive manner.
• At no time are you allowed to physically restrain a student.
• At all times, your behavior should model appropriate school behaviors.
• While on playground duty, be sure to move about so that all areas of the playground are visually supervised.
• Perform other general related tasks as may be assigned.
• Works the schedule as assigned by building principal.
