About The Position

This position is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the quality and safety of various parks, leagues and facilities within Cobb County, serving as the primary point of contact for facility users, athletic associations, and league participants after business hours. Responsibilities include monitoring park operations, making rounds to assess facility usage and conditions, checking concessions, and performing administrative tasks. The role involves supervising and scorekeeping adult athletic leagues—including Softball, Basketball, Flag Football, Kickball, Ultimate Frisbee, Cornhole, Volleyball, Pickleball, Golf, and Spikeball. Position will also be responsible for supervising leagues games and coordinating with officials and scorekeepers. Staff will keep score, monitor games, oversee league rules, submit game scores, and facilitate the set up and take down for league games. Oversees and works with rentals and tournament directors at the Al Bishop Complex. Opens and closes facility during league games and tournaments. Assists with special events, community programs, recreation centers, tennis centers, aquatic centers, and other PARKS units as needed. The position for Athletics may report to various parks or facilities within Cobb County based on league and event schedules.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Supplemented by vocational or technical training in customer service or related field.
  • Two years of experience in customer service.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

  • Supervising and scorekeeping adult athletic leagues (Softball, Basketball, Flag Football, Kickball, Ultimate Frisbee, Cornhole, Volleyball, Pickleball, Golf, and Spikeball).
  • Supervising league games and coordinating with officials and scorekeepers.
  • Keeping score, monitoring games, overseeing league rules, submitting game scores, and facilitating set up and take down for league games.
  • Overseeing and working with rentals and tournament directors at the Al Bishop Complex.
  • Opening and closing facility during league games and tournaments.
  • Assisting with special events, community programs, recreation centers, tennis centers, aquatic centers, and other PARKS units as needed.
  • Performing customer service functions: providing information or assistance regarding services, activities, forms, procedures, fees, or other issues; responding to routine questions and complaints; researching problems and initiating problem resolution; and referring complaints/problems to appropriate personnel.
  • Processing participant registrations, court reservations, tournament registrations, and other scheduled services and events: receiving requests for classes, court times, or other scheduled services; reviewing registration forms for accuracy and completeness; entering information into online database and calendars; collecting and recording fees; and maintaining related documentation.
  • Preparing daily financial reports and deposits: counting monies received; balancing cash drawers to system reports; auditing transactions to locate and correct any discrepancies; closing out cash drawers; preparing and submitting deposit; and maintaining related documentation.
  • Promoting recreational programming and events: creating and publishing promotional materials such as schedules, news releases, flyers, brochures, posters, signs, websites, social media posts etc.
  • Providing administrative support: conducting tours; attending meetings; answering the telephone; preparing attendance and registration reports, memos, correspondence, and other files and records; copying and filing documents; entering computer data, etc.; and maintaining inventory of supplies, forms and equipment.
  • Preparing facilities according to daily schedule: opening and closing facility; unlocking and locking doors; turning lights on or off; disarming and setting alarm; moving, setting up, and tearing down tables, chairs, etc.; and performing routine cleaning duties such as emptying trash, sweeping floors, etc.
  • Organizing, instructing and supervising assigned recreational activities, which may include youth programs, senior programs, special needs programs, fitness programs and classes, sports leagues and clinics, after school and summer programs, arts and crafts programs, theater and performing arts programs and special events, or nature and environmental programs: gathering supplies and equipment; verifying completion of required forms for each participant; teaching classes, clinics, and skills; providing information and direction; performing assessments; and ensuring all activities comply with established rules, policies, procedures and safety standards.
