The City of Anaheim Community Services Department is seeking to hire Part-Time Park Rangers. Under moderate supervision, this position will patrol 65 municipal parks, conduct restroom checks, lock restrooms, secure gates, educate the public on rules and policies, and submit reports. Park Rangers act as liaisons between the City of Anaheim and other internal and external departments. Candidates are expected to be able to multitask, problem-solve, and have strong verbal and written communication skills. This is a part-time, year-round position of approximately 20-32 hours per week; however, no minimum number of hours is guaranteed. Candidates will be required to submit a minimum of 30 hours of availability. This position operates seven (7) days per week, including weekends and holidays. Employees are assigned to a primary shift upon hire. While staff are generally scheduled within their assigned shift, work schedules, days, and hours may be adjusted based on operational needs, including City events, special assignments, staffing needs, training, and other program requirements. Employees may be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. All candidates are expected to successfully complete the Park Ranger training program. Candidates must be available for the Park Ranger training program from 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM. This training program is approximately 13 shifts long and will vary depending on each individual's progress. Bilingual Spanish-speaking applicants are highly desirable. Park Ranger is the first-level classification in the Park Ranger/Senior Park Ranger series. Incumbents at this level patrol community parks independently, perform the more routine compliance tasks, and coordinate with higher-level staff when new or unusual situations arise.
