The Science Museum of Virginia seeks a dynamic individual to work in The MiX as a part-time MiX Mentor to our teen members. The MiX is a free, membership-based, teens-only space within the Science Museum of Virginia that encourages deeper engagement in STEM disciplines through a hands-on, maker-based environment. As a MiX Mentor, you’ll facilitate engaging, inquiry-based activities and guide teens ranging ages 13-18 as they build skills, confidence, and curiosity. Mentors lead weekend programming during the school year and weekday programming in the summer, while serving as positive near-peer role models who help teens explore college and career pathways. You’ll also occasionally support exciting museum events like Science After Dark, Forge workshops, and out-of-school-time outreach. If you’re passionate about hands-on learning, youth mentorship, and helping young people discover their potential, this is your chance to help “light the spark.” This is a part-time position and will be scheduled for 29 hours a week on average with a maximum of 1500 hours in a 12-month period.
