The Archdiocese of Chicago, the third largest in the United States, serves more than 2.2 million Catholics in 216 parishes in Cook County and Lake County, a geographic area of 1,411 square miles. The maintenance worker's role aids in ensuring the functioning of building systems including the fire/life safety, HVAC, lighting, mechanical and plumbing systems in all the parish facilities. The maintenance worker is also responsible for ensuring the grounds are kept in a safe and clean condition. This would include overseeing the maintenance of sidewalks and parking areas, light snow removal and performing repairs to buildings and equipment as required, utilizing basic knowledge in electrical, plumbing, mechanical, carpentry, masonry and painting work.
