The Kent School of Social Work invites applications for Part-Time Lecturers to teach in its BSW program. The posting describes three positions for in-person classes meeting 2.5 hours per week between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Courses are also offered in traditional and online settings. Compensation is based on a per-credit-hour value for the course taught, typically a three-credit-hour course. Part-Time Lecturers are expected to attend orientation, training, and liaison meetings three times per semester; submit a course syllabus; order textbooks or other reading materials; provide developmentally meaningful feedback; present engaging learning experiences; respond to students in a timely manner; communicate regularly with the designated course chair; maintain collegial and respectful relations with members of the University of Louisville community and external stakeholders; submit course data and final grades by university deadlines; and comply with other requests related to the lecturer role. Applicants must submit a resume or CV and responses to prompts about facilitating learning in higher education, the optimal student-instructor relationship, creating a welcoming classroom community, and monitoring and adjusting instruction to increase student learning. Applicants must also select three listed social work education practices and provide examples of implementation, or, if they have not taught previously, discuss ways to promote those practices or examples from their social work practice experience. The resume/CV and prompt responses must be submitted together as a single attachment. Applications will be screened as teaching needs arise. Applicants may be considered for openings in Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters and the Winter Session. The advertisement remains effective for six months after it is first posted; applicants not hired during that period must reapply. Non-exempt University employees, such as hourly employees, are not eligible to apply.
