Part-Time Lecturer, MSSW Program

University of Louisville•Louisville, KY

About The Position

The Kent School of Social Work invites applications for Part-Time Lecturers in its MSSW program for three in-person teaching positions: Research Methodology and Design, Social Justice Policy, and Social Justice Practice. Courses are offered in traditional and online settings. Compensation is based on a per-credit-hour value for the course taught, typically a three-credit-hour course. Part-Time Lecturers are expected to attend orientation, training, and liaison meetings three times per semester; submit a course syllabus; order textbooks or other reading materials; provide developmentally meaningful feedback; present engaging learning experiences; respond to students promptly; communicate regularly with the designated course chair; maintain collegial and respectful relationships with University of Louisville community members and external stakeholders; submit course data and final grades by university deadlines; and comply with other requests related to the role. Applicants must submit a resume or CV and a single document responding to four teaching prompts concerning strategies for facilitating higher-education learning; the optimal student-instructor relationship; creating a welcoming classroom community, with a specific example; and monitoring and adjusting instruction to increase learning for all students. Applicants must also select three listed social-work teaching practices and provide one or two examples of how they implemented each. Applicants who have not taught may describe how they would promote these practices or give examples from their social-work practice experience. Applications will be screened as teaching needs arise, and applicants may be considered for openings in Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters and the Winter Session. The advertisement remains effective for six months after its initial posting; candidates who are not hired during that period must reapply. Non-exempt University employees, such as hourly employees, are not eligible to apply.
