About The Position

The Department of Physics and Astronomy invites qualified applicants to apply for part-time, in-person teaching of introductory physics laboratory sections in Fall 2026.

Requirements

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree completed in physics or a closely related science field.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in physics or a closely related science field.
• Nearly completed Master's degree in physics or a closely related science field.
• Teaching experience is preferred, but not required.
• 2 or more years of teaching experience are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and instruct assigned laboratory section(s) to meet overall course objectives and program goals.
• Establish and maintain an environment conducive to student learning.
• Meet with students during and outside of assigned classes.
• Assess (grade) student work and performance.
• Provide copies of course materials.
• Collect and provide program assessment data to their supervisor on request.
• Coordinate efforts with other instructors.
• Assign and submit grades in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University policies and procedures.
• Perform related duties as required.
