About The Position

Baylor University department of Psychology and Neuroscience is seeking a Part-Time Lab Technician. The primary roles of this position include assisting with animal care as needed and developing technical expertise in behavioral, surgical, histological, and analytical research methods. The individual should expect to work with and gain an expertise in rodent addiction behavioral training assays, surgical procedures, perfusion and tissue collection, histological and biological assays on tissues collected from experimental animals, microscopy and recording/analysis of data.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree and less than one year of relevant work experience are required.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

  • A Bachelor’s degree and one year of relevant work experience are preferred.
  • Additional education or experience may be considered in lieu of one another.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with animal care as needed
  • Develop technical expertise in behavioral, surgical, histological, and analytical research methods
  • Work with and gain an expertise in rodent addiction behavioral training assays, surgical procedures, perfusion and tissue collection, histological and biological assays on tissues collected from experimental animals, microscopy and recording/analysis of data
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
  • Ability to comply with university policies
